Performance Evaluation of Soft Real-Time Scheduling for Multicomputer Cluster
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider scheduling soft real-time tasks for a cluster which consists of multiple servers. Each server provides identiccal services where an incoming task can be assigned to one of the servers. The question we investigate is which assignment produces the best performance given two alternattive approaches to queue the arriving tasks: a centralized approach or a distributed one. A missed deadline criterion is used to evaluated these approaches. The innuence of dispatching policies on the performance of the distributed approach is also considered.

Performance evaluation of real-time scheduling on a multicomputer architecture
The complexity of some real-time applications demands high performance computer architectures. Multicomputer architectures have a potential for high performance and reliability because of their expressive number of processors and communication channels. Therefore, they are natural candidates for supporting complex real-time computing. This paper presents a performance evaluation of real-time sc...

متن کاملAn Efficient Non-Preemptive Algorithm for Soft Real-Time Systems using Domain Cluster-Group EDF
In this paper a new non-preemptive domain clustering scheduling algorithm for soft real time application is proposed. The main aim of this algorithm is to achieve high deadline meeting ratio of the group Earliest Deadline First (gEDF) algorithm by maintaining the excellent performance during normal load. An efficient non-preemptive algorithm called Domain Cluster – group EDF (DC-gEDF) is propos...
متن کاملHLS: A Framework for Composing Soft Real-Time Schedulers
Hierarchical CPU scheduling has emerged as a way to (1) support applications with diverse scheduling requirements in open systems, and (2) provide load isolation between applications, users, and other resource principals. Most existing work on hierarchical scheduling has focused on systems that provide a fixed scheduling model: the schedulers in part or all of the hierarchy are specified in adv...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Transaction Handling Policies on Real-Time DBMS Prototype
We have implemented Soft Real-Time DBMS prototype called ZDBMS. Using this prototype we have investigated performance for commonly used policies EDF, LSF and for new transaction handling policy SPF oriented for using in cases when transactions have different static priorities. The results represent these policies performance for equal sets of experiments.
